Charles Mitchell trained in the 20th century by a 19th century sculptor, continues into the 21st century producing wood relief carvings, stone carvings, metal works, block prints and anything else that may come to mind.

 

Born in a north Georgia mill town, he worked his way through the educational system and the U.S. Navy to finally graduate from the Art Institute of Chicago.

 

After directing the sculpture department of the Atlanta Art Institute for five years, he left teaching. With the help of family and friends, he maintained a studio in Atlanta  for 30 years, executing many public and private commissions.

 

He is currently working in Florida
